Unnat Bharat Abhiyan- 1st national level Executive Committee meeting held in IIT Delhi

The first- national-level Executive Committee meeting was held in IIT Delhi on November 28, 2019. The meeting’s purpose was to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the National Executive Committee of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The Executive Committee will function as the major decision-maker among all the stakeholders in the organisational structure of UBA as well as for the policies coming from various departments of the government.

The meeting was attended by members of MHRD, 7 IITs, 6 NITs, IGNOU, UGC, AICTE, RuTAG, Gandhigram Rural Institute (Tamil Nadu), SGSITS (Madhya Pradesh), and NERIST (Arunachal Pradesh). NIT Jaipur was also connected through virtual mode.

Several discussions were made during the meeting. A few major discussions were - To achieve Prime Minister’s this goal to make India Plastic Free, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan organised a Plastic Free Campaign “Swachata Hi Seva” along with its institutes and presented a brief report on the same. Another program of Govt. of India - “Jal Shakti Abhiyan” was also discussed in the meeting for how it will be implemented through UBA Institution.

In March 2019 there were 40 Regional Coordinating Institutions (RCIs) was approved by MHRD to strengthen UBA’s implementation, In this meeting 4 new institutes - IIT Palakkad, IIT Jammu, VNIT Nagpur, and IGNOU have signed MoUs with UBA - IIT Delhi, making the total number of Regional Coordinating Institutes (RCIs) to 44.
