The Indian Chapter of InterPore was inaugurated at IIT Delhi on Dec 14, 2017. InterPore is an international non-profit-making independent scientific organization established in 2008. The motive of InterPore symposium was to provide a platform to exchange ideas for Indian researchers working in the field of flow in porous media for interaction and collaboration. The International society for porous media aims to bring researchers in academia and industry on a common platform to discuss the recent advances and future trajectory of the technologies.

The inaugural session of Indian Chapter of InterPore was hosted by Dr. Jyoti Phirani, Department of Chemical Engineering, and IIT Delhi. The welcome address was given by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi and the Inaugural talk was given by Prof. Krishna M. Pillai, Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee. Prof. Majid Hassanizadeh, Utrect University, Netherlands was the keynote speaker.

The sessions of the Indian Chapter of Interpore were on Mathematical solution strategies for flow in porous media, Applications of Flow in Porous Media and Flow Modeling at various scales in Porous Media. Distinguished researchers from academia and industry working on flow through porous media delivered talks on the mathematical, experimental and simulation strategies to understand the complex flow through porous media.

Researchers from different Institutes across the country enthusiastically participated in the poster presentations. The Indian Chapter of InterPore meet will be followed by formation of a steering committee for this new Chapter of InterPore in India.
