IIT Delhi-TCS Research Day

The IIT Delhi-TCS Research Day was held on Jan 21, 2019 at IIT Delhi. The objective of the event was to understand the research activities and capabilities of various departments at IIT Delhi and to share with IITD TCS’ vision, focus areas to identify areas for collaboration.

The event was attended by over 40 CXOs, Scientists and Research Heads of TCS, IIT Delhi Faculty and student community.

Mr K. Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer, TCS; Prof V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi; Prof M Balakrishnan, Deputy Director (Strategy & Planning), IIT Delhi; Mr Raju Goteti, Vice President-COIN, TCS, Prof Anurag S. Rathore, Associate Dean, Corporate Relations, IIT Delhi addressed the event.

The heads of various TCS divisions interacted with IITD faculty and students and visited the laboratories to explore further collaboration opportunities.

Prof Rao, Director, IIT Delhi said, “We are keen to replicate this with other major corporates as well.”

Following five research areas were included in the event and speakers (both, TCS and IIT Delhi) from respective areas addressed the session:

  1. Life Sciences Research - Mr Sanjeev Sachdeva & Ms Sharmila Mande (TCS), Prof. Ram Ramswamy, Prof. Anurag S. Rathore (IITD)
  2. Energy and Utilities Research - Mr Sumitkumar Ray & Mr Pankaj Malhotra (TCS), Prof. B.K. Panigrahi (IITD)
  3. Manufacturing Research - Mr. Niravkumar Shah & Mr Mahesh Mynam (TCS), Prof. Sunil Jha (IITD)
  4. A session on 5G Technology - Mr Debashis Mitra & Mr Rajeev Shorey (TCS), Prof. Brejesh Lal (IITD)
  5. Deep dive on AI and Machine Learning - Mr Lovkesh Vig (TCS), Prof. Parag Singla (IITD)

TCS speakers highlighted current technology trends, business cases while IITD speakers shared their specific research work, also covered in general, the broader spectrum of research being carried at IITD.

The TCS Research heads demonstrated their area of work to students and Faculty at designated booths in LHC.

From IITD community, start-ups exhibited their products at booths while scholars, TCS sponsored projects and Research scholar program, demonstrated poster presentation to TCS participants.

During the town hall session - TCS Research Café, TCS Research heads interacted with M.Tech and Ph.D students.
